Spreading Encouragement, Supporting Teachers

I am a mother living outside Charlottesville, Virginia. I am also a former elementary school teacher. Having spent all of my adult life working and raising children who attend public schools, I became disheartened at the recent rhetoric against public schools, and more importantly, against teachers.

I believe that, like a seeded dandelion on a windy summer day, it only takes one small force to start the encouragement spreading.

I believe that we can make a positive change in our communities by reclaiming the narrative surrounding teachers. I believe that by flooding the conversation about public schools with positivity and encouragement, we can begin to ease the stress for our teachers.

Strong teachers build strong schools, which build strong communities. Public education affects all of us, regardless of our personal schooling choices. Join me in supporting teachers.
